    Summary

This is a kit for the non-pyrotechnic cold gas-propelled Valkyrie flying model rocket. It used non-toxic, non-flammable Freon as the propellant and was capable of flights up to 150 feet. The model had an aluminum body, balsa nose cone and fins, and plastic parachute. The kit contained everything necessary to launch the rocket, excluding the 6 volt battery needed for ignition.
However, the cold gas rocket was not challenging enough for model rocketeers and was also expensive and had a limited altitude. It therefore did not become widely popular and higher-performance pyrotechnic rockets, using safe commercially-made and approved propellants maintained their popularity and presently still do so.
The kit was made by Vashon Industries and donated by G. Harry Stine.
