Owney received this identification token from John Koch, a Rock Island, Illinois gunsmith. The token includes Koch’s occupation on one side, along with the date May 9, 1895. Among the trains that Owney may have ridden on into the city were the Chicago, Rock Island, & Pacific; the Chicago & Alton; and the Chicago, Burlington, & Quincy railroads.
