Object Details

Description

Gold "Griffe de lion" ring in the shape of a stylized and flattened claw attached to an open band with incised curving and nested chevron design. The top of the claw is pierced and decorated with tiny globules to create a modified X design within a square.

Marian Johnson, purchased in Dakar, Senegal, 1963-late 20th century to 2012
