This ring is made from a broken bracelet, attesting to the value and scarcity of gold.
Description
Gold-plated silver alloy ring, possibly made from a broken bracelet, or bracelet piece, composed of a central rectangular and curved convex pendant with a repousse and incised design of nested chevrons and groupings of almond shapes or leaves. Attached to a matching band.

Marian Johnson, purchased in Dakar, Senegal, 1963-late 20th century to 2012
