Summary
This pump housing is from one of Robert H. Goddard's first liquid oxygen pumps for his rockets, ca. 1925. In March 1926 Goddard launched the world's first liquid-fuel rocket, which burned gasoline and liquid oxygen.
Mrs. Robert H. Goddard donated this object to the Smithsonian Institution in 1959 as part of a large collection of artifacts from her husband.
