George Linen made this painting of a well-bred woman, stylishly coiffed and dressed in a fur-trimmed robe, as a pendant to her husband’s portrait. The lady looks in the direction of her husband, with a sweet smile that conveys a warm intimacy, as though she might reach out and touch her husband’s hand as they sat for their portraits.
