    Object Details

    Description

In January of 1975, the magazine Popular Electronics featured a cover story about the Altair 8800, describing it as “the world’s first minicomputer kit to rival commercial models.” A second article on the Altair appeared in February. This example of the magazine was given by writer Forrest Mims III, who wrote the owner’s manual for the Altair. For his account of the development of the machine, and a list of his publications, see http://www.forrestmims.org/biography.html.
