Description (Brief)
Bronzed plaster cast of Joe Louis's fist. This was made by Dr. Walter H. Jacobs, a boxing enthusiast and dentist that made mouth guards for boxers. Dr. Walter H. Jacobs, a boxing enthusiast, made the mold of Joe Louis's fist at his training camp at Pompton Lakes, NJ, in 1946. It was made of impresssion material used in dentistry. He made the life mold and then cast and bronzed it to make the life mold and then to cast it. Joe Louis (Barrow), 1914-1981, was one of America's best boxers, finishing with a 66-3 record, with one no contest. Louis was also recognized for his military service during the World War II.
