McKinley, William
Description
The election of 1896 featured many items which poked fun at the “other guy.” This five-inch wide “Bryan dollar” showed how big a coin would have to be to be worth a dollar under the silver standard promoted by Democratic presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan. Bryan lost the election to William McKinley, the Republican candidate and supporter of maintaining the gold standard.
