    Description

    This black and white photograph depicts Dizzy Gillespie seated next to an open instrument case with his proper right hand resting palm-up on his proper right knee; his proper left hand holds a trumpet still on his proper left knee. Gillespie looks off camera to the right of the frame; he wears a heavy medallion on a chain around his neck and thick-rimmed, rectangular framed glasses. There is an imprint of a palm tree in the bottom right corner of the border on the front of the photograph. The back of the photograph has an inscription, by hand, of the numbers: [57], [731], and a photographer's stamp.
