Description (Brief)
Pencil and watercolor design drawing for ballet costume on tracing paper, of a Romantic style tutu featuring a tea length long flowing skirt, usually constructed of three to five layers of tulle. Alternating colors of purple, light green, turquoise, and pink give the skirt a vertical striped effect. Basque style bodice with a low pointed waistline; fitted bodice with scoop neckline; short puffy sleeves; pink apron with crossing straps attached at the shoulder and edged in ruffles. See 2011.0041.02 for back view of costume. Probably drawn by Charles Le Maire, a renowned costume designer for Broadway musicals and Hollywood films. He won three Oscars for costumes he designed for movies.
