Description

Soccer star Pelé gave this signed Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) yellow jersey to advertising agent Tony Dieste, of Dieste, Inc. after performing in a television commercial titled "World Cup" promoting Sierra Mist, in 2004. In the commercial, 14-year old soccer phenom Freddy Adu takes a break from practice and both players crack open a cooler and reach for the last Sierra Mist at the same time. The two duke it out with a series of highly skilled and elaborate tricks to win the drink. Though Adu wins the show off, Pelé snags the bottle while Adu circles the field in celebration.
Dieste, Inc., founded in 1995 by Tony Dieste and Warren Hamel, is a leader in mutlicultural marketing and has won multiple awards including several Cannes Lions, the highest award possible in the field of creative advertising and communications. The national collections hold a sampling of their work.
Originally planned as Spanish-only, the commerical also ran in English. Signed by Pelé in black ink on the front.

La estrella de fútbol Pelé le dio esta camiseta amarilla firmada por la Confederación Brasileña de Fútbol (CBF) al agente de publicidad Tony Dieste, de Dieste, Inc. después de hacer un comercial de televisión titulado "World Cup" promocionando Sierra Mist, en el 2004. En el comercial, el fenómeno del fútbol de solo 14 años de edad, Freddy Adu toma un descanso de la práctica y ambos jugadores abren una hielera y tratan de agarrar el último Sierra Mist al mismo tiempo. Los dos compiten con una serie de trucos de fútbol para ganar la bebida. Aunque Adu gana la competencia, Pelé agarra la bebida mientras Adu da vueltas en el campo para celebrar.
Dieste, Inc., fue fundada en 1995 por Tony Dieste y Warren Hamel. Dieste, Inc. es líder en marketing multicultural y ha ganado múltiples premios, incluyendo varios Cannes Lions, el premio más prestigiado en el área de publicidad y las comunicaciones. La colección nacional de NMAH tiene muestras de su trabajo de marketing.
