Description
This is a color photograph of the 1963 March on Washington by James P. Blair. The image depicts Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at a podium with many microphones attached to its back. He shown from his left-hand side and slightly from below. He wears a black suit jacket and black tie over a white button-down shirt. There is a black and white March on Washington pin-back button on his left lapel. Dr. King is waving with his right hand and his mouth is open. A man’s face is visible in profile just behind Dr. King. He wears a brown hat. The back of three people’s heads are visible in the foreground of the image. One person is wearing a light-colored hat. The print is signed by the photographer at the lower left corner and labeled [8 of 9]. A caption by the photographer is printed along the bottom margin.
