This is a color photograph of the 1963 March on Washington by James P. Blair of the 1963 March on Washington. The image depicts Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at a podium with many microphones attached. He shown from his left-hand side and slightly from below. He wears a black suit jacket and black tie over a white button-down shirt. There is a black and white pin-back button on his left lapel reading [MARCH ON WASHINGTON / FOR / JOBS & fREEDOM]. Dr. King is gesturing with his right hand outstretched. The back of three people’s heads are visible in the foreground of the image. One person is wearing a light-colored hat. The print is signed by the photographer at the lower left corner and labeled [7 of 9]. A caption by the photographer is printed along the bottom margin.
