Notes

"H. Croucher, Music Engraver & Printer, 14, Methley Street, Kennington Park, S.E."--Colophon
At head of title: "[name trimmed off] who is about to make an attempt to reach the North Pole by aid of balloons"
Illustrated title page depicts the balloon "Enterprise" in flight over the Arctic. Two polar bears play the violin and the flute. Two polar bears fight over a red object. A group of polar bears dance on their hind legs in a circle around a pole (the North pole), which one climbs to get to another bear standing on his head at the top waving a flag(?). A group of men help push a laden dog sled. One man looks at the balloon through a telescope, one waves his hat, and another runs with the British flag in one hand and a piece of paper reading "School Board Char[ter] of Icel[and]" in the other. In the foreground are a compass, telescope, and sextant on top of a map of the North Pole and Greenland. Also in the foreground is a can of Liebig's extract of meat, a container of rum, and a bag of oatmeal. A check from the city bank of Tottenham is made out to Commander Cheyne in the amount of £30,000 from John Bull. Glitter paint on highlights of the title page Signed F. Nixon, del.
Also for "Full Orchestr[a]"
For piano solo

NASMRB copy mq1688495 trimmed to 34 cm, possibly excising publisher's name. "André Expedition" written in pencil on title page margin (but Cheyne was not involved in this expedition, making it unlikely that this is what the piece is about)
