Notes
From card: "Wrapped in linen."
From NMNH Exhibit Hall "Eternal Life in Ancient Egypt" label for this artifact, 2011: Mummified "cat", 332-30 B.C. The Egyptian pilgrim who purchased this cat mummy may not have known it holds no remains. Empty animal mummies were not uncommon. It is possible that priests conducted a ritual to transform empty mummies into proper offerings, then sold them at a bargain price.
