Description
Unfinished landscape sketch of waterfall and stream in the woods of Mount Desert Island, Maine. Extremely dense woods at right and left flank a rock-bound stream that flow toward the viewer at center. Rapids and a waterfall in middle distance serve as the focal point. In the background at center, a dead tree visible through a break in the tree canopy. Reddish ground visible in lower, unfinished portion of composition. Upper portion completed with high level of detail and refinement.
