Summary
This is a 1:48 scale model of the Saturn IB rocket. Developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Saturn IBs launched three unmanned Apollo command modules and one unmanned Apollo lunar module in 1966-1968. In October 1968, it boosted the first manned Apollo mission (Apollo 7) into Earth orbit for ten days. In November 1973, a Saturn IB launched the final Skylab crew in orbit and in July 1975 the United States crew for the joint docking with two Soviet cosmonauts in the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project program. NASA's Johnson Space Center made this plastic model with a wood stand and transferred it to NASM in 1977.
