This is a model of a ramjet-powered vehicle made of wood, metal, and plastic. NASA's Lewis Research Center manufactured it. The Lewis Research Center was one of NASA's facilities that conducted research and development on ramjets for use for use in supersonic aircraft. Ramjets were actually used in several aircraft and missiles in the 1950s and 1960s.
The Lewis Research Center transferred this model to NASM in 1966.
