Summary
This is an assembled flying V-2 missile model, produced by Estes Industries. It is based on the Nazi V-2 missile that carried a 2,000 pound conventional warhead up to 200 miles and was used extensively against London, Antwerp, and other Allied cities during 1944-1945. The model has a pasteboard body, balsa nosecone and fins, and a plastic parachute. A solid propellant rocket motor propels the model, and then at the end of the vertical flight it forces the release of a parachute. The model is then retrieved and can be used again. Estes Industries donated the model to NASM in 1970.
