Summary

This is a model of unknown scale of the Quail. McDonnell Douglas made these missiles for the U.S. Air Force. Although the Quail had a missile designation, it only carried electronic countermeasure equipment to confuse and deceive enemy air defense systems. Each Strategic Air Command B-52 intercontinental bomber normally carried four Quails in a bomb bay. Powered by a General Electric J85 engine and with a maximum range of approximately 400 miles, the Quail was deployed from 1960 into the 1970s. John and Cynthia Heyde donated this model to NASM on an unknown date.
