Summary
This is a 1:16 scale model of the Quail. Although the Quail had a missile designation, it only carried electronic countermeasure equipment to confuse and deceive enemy air defense systems and did not carry a warhead. Each Strategic Air Command B-52 intercontinental bomber normally carried four Quails in a bomb bay. Powered by a General Electric J85 engine and with a maximum range of approximately 400 miles, the Quail was deployed from 1960 into the 1970s. McDonnell Aircraft made this model and donated it to NASM in 1961.
