Description (Brief)
Springfield Armory developed the Model 1855 Percussion Pistol-Carbine for use as a pistol on horseback, or as a carbine on foot. The .58 caliber muzzle loader featured an attachable shoulder stock and a Maynard tape primer. During the same time period, the development of Colt revolvers made the Pistol-Carbine obsolete.
