Summary
This mockup Command Module was a boilerplate used for water immersion tests and for training practice by Navy recovery ships. Testing probably took place in the Gulf of Mexico near Houston, as it was assigned a Johnson Space Center number, JSC-4. It is currently seen in a lunar mission configuration with a mockup lunar module and service module attached.
NASA transferred title to the Smithsonian in October 1976.
