Summary
This is an assembled flying V-2 missile model of 1:40 scale, produced by Centuri Engineering. It is based on the Nazi V-2 missile that carried a 2,000 pound conventional warhead up to 200 miles and was used extensively against London, Antwerp, and other Allied cities during 1944-1945. The model has a pasteboard body, balsa nosecone and fins, and a plastic parachute. A solid propellant rocket motor propels the model; the parachute is deployed at the end of the vertical flight. The model can be retrieved and used again.
This model was donated to the Museum in 1970 by the manufacturer, one of the largest American makers of flying models.
