Description
For the 2009 inaugural balls, Michelle Obama wore a set of jewelry custom made for the event - a pair of triple rose-cut diamond earrings with a center cluster of diamond briolettes set in white gold, thirteen white-gold and diamond bangle bracelets, and a signet ring—white gold and black rhodium with rose-cut diamonds and a rose-cut diamond center stone that designer Loree Rodkin named, “Michelle.”
Loree Rodkin began making and selling jewelry as a hobby while working as a talent manager in Los Angeles. She opened her own jewelry business in 1989 and her designs became favorites of celebrity clients like Cher and Steven Tyler. Michelle Obama wore pieces from Rodkin’s collection to events including the 2008 Democratic National Convention and the We Are One inaugural celebration at the Lincoln Memorial.
