Summary

Mary Vaux Walcott (1860-1940), third wife of Charles Doolittle Walcott (1850-1927), fourth Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution from 1907 to 1927. Mrs. Walcott was a noted wild flower artist, photographer, and amateur geologist and accompanied her husband on his trips to British Columbia. She is pictured seated in a field camp and on the ground are rolled up bedrolls, two carrying cases and other camp equipment. Patches of snow can be seen.
