    Said to have been made for Colonel William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody (1846-1917); acquired by William F. Stiles (1912-1980, MAI curator) from a member of Buffalo Bill Wild West how troupe at an unknown date; purchased by MAI in 1963 from the American Indian Handicraft Company, a personal business that William Stiles and his wife operated from their home.
