Summary
An experiment on Gemini X to obtain spectra of bright stars in the southern Milky Way required this ultraviolet lens made by the Barnes Engineering Company. The use of a special lens, prism, grating, and film type allowed only ultraviolet light to be recorded. The experiment resulted in only a few usable frames.
NASA transferred this lens to the Museum in 1972.
