    Object Details

    Collector

    August Gottschalck

    Donor Name

    Victor J. Evans

    Notes

From card: ""Bouche Shig'be, Ab-sa'-Roo-Kee, Upper Yellowstone. Procured by Aug. Gottschalck, Gallatin Montana in 1883." Old tag on object says: "Buffalo Hide Lariat made by Crow Indian Upper Yellowstone Procured by Aug. Gottschalck Gallatin Co (?) Montana in 1883 Ab-sa-ro-kee Bouche Shig'be.""
"Aug. Gottschalck" presumably refers to August Gottschalck (sometimes called Gottschalk) of Bozeman, Montana, 1850-1919. He ran a sporting goods/gun store in Bozeman called the Mountain Armory.
