Created by

Louis H. Draper, American, 1935 - 2002

Subject of

Joyce Bryant, American, born 1928

Description

A gelatin silver print of Joyce Bryant in front of an upright piano. She sits on the piano bench and faces the viewer while resting her arm on the piano's music desk. Also on the music desk are booklets of sheet music, including "My Lord and Master" and a Billie Holliday "Lady Sings the Blues" anthology. Partially obscured by Bryant is sheet music featuring the image of a European classical composer wearing a periwig. More sheet music is stacked on the piano's top. Above the piano, and dominating the top half of the photograph, is a large print of Joyce Bryant.
