Description
This real photo postcard features an image of men and women outside of a storefront. A group of people are lined up in front of the store. Men on horseback flank each end. Women and children are sitting on the sidewalk in front of the store. Men are standing behind them on the sidewalk and next to them on the left. There are two windows on either side of the front door of the store. The sign or banner has been torn away from the awning. The text at the bottom of the image reads [JOHN A. RAUB STORE, LITTLE EAGLE, S.D. Photo by W.D. Odou Druggist, / McLaughlin, S.D]. The back of the postcard has a postage stamp in the top right corner. The word [POST CARD] is printed across the top and the rest of the space is divided into two parts with the words [CORRESPONDENCE] and [ADDRESS]. In the correspondence section of the postcard, handwritten text reads [7-6-22 / Dear old grandmother how / are you. Hope Vereca & baby / are all right I am also / feeling 20 yrs older I have / a new grandson / Walter Drake Gager. John is home / now feeling better but very weak / & nervous Bud has been here / for a week but has gone now. / write when you can. / with love Josie].
