    Description

1968 Topps football card featuring New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath.
Quarterback Joe Namath won a National Championship at the University of Alabama in 1964 prior to becoming the first pick in the 1965 American Football League (AFL) draft, selected by the New York Jets. Earning the nickname “Broadway Joe”, Namath brought New York an AFL title in 1968 and famously, a Superbowl victory in 1969, where the brash field general had guaranteed a Jets victory over the NFL’s Baltimore Colts before earning game MVP honors in a 16-7 win. Playing for the Jets his entire career except for his final season, spent with the Los Angeles Rams (1977), Namath was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.
