    Andrew Jergens Company

    Description

The Andrew Jergens Company began in 1882 in Cincinnati, Ohio, as the Jergens Soap Company. By the turn of the 20th century, the company had expanded to include a number of beauty care and cosmetic products and would soon launch its most famous product, Jergens Lotion. Andrew Jergens Company was acquired by the international beauty company Kao in 1988.
Newspaper advertisements for this particular product can be found ranging from 1918 to 1932. Violet was used to make the hair smell good, and glycerine, a naturally occurring by-product of soap making, is a humectant, attracting water to the skin.
