Kiowa calendar painting on animal hide. Painted ca. 1965 by Charles Rowell, a Kiowa artist, based on a calendar/winter count from the 1890s by Anko. That original painting was catalog number E178367, published in James Mooney's 1898 BAE report "Calendar History of the Kiowa" (original Anko painting missing from the museum collections).
