Summary
This helmet was constructed for the AX-3 Advanced Extra-Vehicular Suit (AES) that was designed at NASA Ames Research Center in the middle 1970s. The dome shape of the helmet provided all-around visibility for the prototype suit, which was created to prove that a highly mobile suit, requiring little effort to operate, could use an internal operating pressure of 8 pounds per square inch.
