Description

Unmounted silver print by Berenice Abbott, "Hardware Store, 316-318 Bowery." Store front filled with different kinds of tools and appliances, including knives, pans, electric fans, bird cages, etc. Large sign on right reads "sale on tools," sign top center reads "sale on knives." There is no open space visible around the storefront except a small amount of sidewalk along bottom edge. Price signs on containers full of tools sit directly on sidewalk in front of shop. Verso: Stamp, "Photograph, Berenice Abbott, Maine 04406; " Recto: signed by artist.
