Summary

This is a type of gyroscope used in a number of inertial guidance systems, including the Polaris Submarine-launched ballistic missile and the Apollo Command Module guidance system. It was designed at the MIT Instrumentation Lab in Cambridge, Mass., and manufactured by the AC Spark Plug Division of General Motors in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
