Grace Hopper

Grace Hopper (1906–1992) was notable among the few women who entered the field of digital computers in the early years. She began as a programmer on the Harvard Mark I computer in the mid-1940s. Later she helped develop the UNIVAC I computer and then played an important role in developing COBOL, a common business language that became an industry standard for decades. This video is featured in the "Computer Pioneers" section of the American Enterprise exhibition at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. (The video does not have an audio track).
