    Commonplace Book : 36 p. : handwritten ; 18 x 15 cm.

    Summary

    In this notebook, Catlin categorizes his paintings by naming them: sporting scenes, amusements, landscapes, landscapes on the Missouri, and manners & customs. The reverse side of this notebook describes in gruesome detail a battle of Máh-to-toh-pa "Four Bears," second chief of the Mandan Village.
