Object Details
maker
Wheeler, Albert Harry
Description
This hinged dissection has nine pieces which may be arranged to form one large square or three smaller ones of differing size. The area of the green pieces(arranged as a square) equals the area of the yellow and brown pieces (arranged as a square). The four green pieces are hinged together, as are the four yellow pieces.
The model illustrates the Pythagorean theorem.
This model does not appear to be on Wheeler's list of decompositions of polygons. The green pieces would form the triangles of model 4SJ (square inside out).
