Summerscales, Edith May

Description

This cut and folded paper model shows intersecting regular tetrahedra in four colors (sides associated with two tetrahedra are tan). A mark on the model reads: 395. Another mark reads: E.M. Summers CL '25 (/) Apr 25.
Compare (for the same surface) MA.304723.209, MA.304723.217, and MA.304723.225.
Model 1979.0102.234 and model 1979.0102.221 are marked in the same handwriting and undated. Model 1979.0102.234 is signed: E. Summerscales. Model 1979.0102.221 is signed Summerscale. This third model (MA.304723.217) has the signature E. M. Summers. A fourth model, MA.304723.515, is signed: E. Summerscales.
According to the Brown University Archives, there was no graduate of Brown University or Pembroke College with the last name of Summers until 1935 and his first name was Robert. Hence it seems likely that all four models were made by Edith May Summerscales (1903-1976), who graduated from Pembroke College in 1925. She was from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and became a mathematics teacher in a junior high school there.
