Washington Redskins
New York Giants
Description
Program for a National Football League contest between the Washington Redskins and the New York Giants, held at Washington's Griffith Stadium, September 16, 1937. The game was the first for the Redskins in the nation's capital, having relocated from their original home of Boston. Led by rookie quarterback, and future hall of famer, Sammy Baugh, Washington would win the matchup 13-3. It was the first victory in an 8-3 season and the NFL championship, the franchises first.
Given the derogatory nature of the name, Washington ceased using Redskins in 2020, rebranding themselves as the Commanders in 2022.
