Description
Flasks and bottles promoting presidential candidates first appeared in 1824. They declined in popularity in the 1850s but remerged as campaign items at the end of the nineteenth century. This small glass bottle (just over five inches in height) promoted the 1896 Republican candidate William McKinley with his image on one side and an eagle molded in the glass on the reverse. Similar containers were also made in support of William Jennings Bryan, the Democratic candidate McKinley defeated in 1896 and again in 1900.
