Physical Description

United States 48 star national flag owned by Lt. Herber Wallace Peters; consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red (top and bottom) alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton with forty-eight white, five-pointed stars arranged 6 horizontal rows of 8 stars.

Summary

Lt. Heber Wallace Peters was a member of the American Air Service in France during World War I. He received flying instruction in Tours and Chateauroux and completed this training in Issoudun, where he became a flight instructor himself. Attached to the 33rd Aero Squadron, he was stationed in Bordeaux for a short following the Armistice before returning to the United States.
