Description
Original lobby card for the Warner Bros. motion picture, A Face in the Crowd. Elia Kazan directed this 1957 drama starring Andy Griffith, Patricia Neal, and Anthony Franciosa. The screenplay was based on Budd Schulberg’s short story, Your Arkansas Traveler. It follows the life of a drifter named Larry “Lonesome” Rhodes and the consequences of his sudden rise to fame. This lobby card depicts Larry Rhodes and Marcia Jeffries in a loving embrace.
Lobby cards were once a popular form of advertisement for motion pictures. The publicity departments of Hollywood studios created cards featuring striking images of their latest films and delivered sets to theatres across the country. Lobby cards were created to entice future audiences and increase ticket sales.
