Summary
This is a Gemini egress kit assembly to supply oxygen to an astronaut who ejected from the capsule during an abort or emergency during launch or reentry. It contains an oxygen supply for breathing and suit pressurization, a composite disconnect to prevent oxygen escape, a relief valve to prevent pressure build up in the suit, a regulator, a pressure gauge, and connecting lines. Three lanyard lines connected the egress kit to the spacecraft, and these activated the system when the astronaut ejected in his seat. When the astronaut's parachute deployed, the egress kit separated and fell to Earth. Airesearch manufactured this kit, which is stamped for testing only.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration transferred it to NASM in 1970.
