    Description

    An issue of Ebony Magazine from September 1949. On the cover, Sugar Ray Robinson strikes a boxing pose while his second wife, Edna Mae Holly, looks on. Inside, the third of six campus ads with high-achieving African American students. Featured is Elizabeth Robinson, “Miss Homecoming” of Hampton Institute, with three other students. Charles Wilson, future Pepsi salesman, appears in a smaller group photo with Ms. Robinson and Joyce Brown Blakeley and Arnold Henderson.
