Object Details

Description

Wool bunting swallowtail flag. Blue field with a white Maltese cross in the center of the flag. Inside the cross is a red number "5", most likely done in pigment paint. White hoist with no grommets. Inscription on hoist reads "Head Quarters 5 Army Corps".
Headquarters Flag of the Fifth Corps, Army of the Potomac, 1864 to 1865
