Summary
Col. Eileen Collins wore this shirt on the STS-63 Shuttle mission in 1995, making history as the first woman to pilot the Shuttle. Except during launch, reentry, and spacewalks when they wear pressure suits, astronauts wear ordinary clothing while in space. The crew members jointly choose shirts in various colors and styles for each mission. This polo shirt is embroidered STS-63 Discovery-Mir, because Collins and the commander flew the orbiter Discovery to a rendezvous with the Russian space station Mir.
Collins donated this shirt to the Museum in 2006.
